Mr. Abhishek Ranjan is a Senior Research Fellow from Centre for WTO Studies, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, and currently works with the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, New Delhi. A lawyer with specialization in Business Laws, he has over seven years of extensive experience in international trade and economic laws within the Department of Commerce.
At the Department of Commerce Mr. Ranjan provides research inputs, policy advice, and support to the government on a wide range of trade policy matters at domestic, bilateral, and multilateral levels, including FTA negotiations and compliance with WTO laws. His core focus areas include Trade in Goods, Rules of Origin, Subsidies, Trade Facilitation, Environment & Sustainability, Digital Trade, IPR, E-commerce, Investment, and Non-Tariff Measures.
Mr. Ranjan has been a part of and actively contributed to key trade negotiations such as Regional Comprehensive Partnership Agreement (RCEP), India-Mauritius CECPA, Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF), India-EU and India-Peru FTAs, and he was also a key member of India's 7th Trade Policy Review at the WTO.
Beyond his advisory work, Mr. Ranjan has published research in international trade and business law, delivered lectures on trade and economic law, and completed specialized courses from institutions such as the WTO, UNCTAD, and UNESCAP.
